- Control beetles
- Daylight (thin) to reduce competition (usually involves removing subalpine fir)
- Regenerate and plant rust-resistant whitebark pine strains; increase seed sources; maintain cache sites
- Plant whitebark pine at lower elevations
- Create fuelbreaks
